Peggy Morris, OTD, OTR/L, BCP is an OT with 30+ years of peds experience in early intervention, private practice & out-patient, but most of her experience & passion is in school-based practice. She coordinates the post-professional MS and OTD programs & school-based certificate program at Tufts University. She is Board Certified in Pediatrics through the AOTA, and a regular SeekFreaks contributor.

 

Patti Sharp, OTD, OTR/L, BCP is a certified CO-OP Instructor, and OT at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC). She co-leads the Developmental Coordination Disorder Community of Practice at CCHMC. She is an adjunct instructor at the University of Cincinnati. She works with children and youth with DCD, ASD, CP, SCI, TBI, orthopedic and neurologic injuries, and developmental delay. She also previously worked in neurorehabilitation and burn units. Patti is excited to share her passion for evidence-based practices with her therapy colleagues.

 

Amy Coopersmith, MOT, OTR/L, MA, Ed worked as an OT Supervisor, clinician and evaluator for the NYC Department of Education for 17 years. She is also a prolific lyricist, writing songs about Children’s Self-Determination and Mental Health. She is passionate about promoting children’s self-determination and has provided workshops at national conferences and online learning communities. Previously, Amy taught Pediatric Assessment and Treatment at Mercy College and worked for ten years as a teacher in New York City. When you ask Amy about a children’s mental health topic, she’ll tell you, “I’ve Got A Song for That!”

At the completion of the course, you are expected to:

    1. Identify the efficacy of at least 2 therapy interventions for fine motor and visual motor skills.
    2. Determine 2 evidence-informed strategies to help children with visual perception difficulties successfully participate in their education, ADLs or other areas of function
    3. Apply 2 evidence-informed principles in designing interventions for achieving goals in handwriting, dressing or other meaningful activities, for a case scenario of a child with fine motor and visual motor challenges
    4. Identify 2 features of task-based interventions
    5. Select 2 task-based interventions that have been shown to be effective in helping children with DCD perform ADLs, play and leisure or other meaningful activity
    6. Determine 2 strategies for the CO-OP Approach and Neuromotor Task Training that a therapist can incorporate into their current interventions.
    7. Identify at least 3 components of self-determination that can promote child’s participation in academics, self-care and play/leisure.
    8. Select 3 methods to incorporate self-determination into pediatric sessions.
    9. Determine 3 ways to utilize effective questioning to promote children’s independence and awareness.
    10. Determine the efficacy of a general education handwriting curriculum
    11. List 2 assessment tools for handwriting
    12. Identify at least 3 evidence-based practices for a systems approach for handwriting instruction

Post-tests: 10-item multiple choice. 70% correct answers required to receive a certificate for each webinar.

A Total of 6 Hours of CE training

    • Apply EBP, LLC is an AOTA-approved provider of CEUs. You will receive 0.15 AOTA CEUs for each webinar completed, for a total of 0.6 CEUs (see imprimatur below for details).
