Experts Series: Tools & Strategies for Embedding School-based OT and PT Services

Do you feel “less of a therapist” and more of a distraction when you embed your services into the classroom? Are you looking for practical tools and strategies to embed your expertise with confidence?

Apply EBP’s Experts Series is here to help you with multiple experts on embedding school-based OT and PT services. In Seminar 1, Jen will walk you through 5 easy steps of a “Time of Day” (routines-based) approach via video case studies, from assessment to intervention & carryover. This is followed by separate OT and PT tracks for Seminars 2 and 3.

OT Track: In Seminar 2, Pam will discuss strategies for collaboration, co-teaching, negotiation, assessment & interventions of embedded OT services. In Seminar 3, Peggy will provide an evidence-informed framework for designing OT interventions that help clients with fine motor, visual motor and visual perception challenges achieve meaningful skills in ADLs, handwriting, and school activities.
PT Track: In Seminar 2, Karen will utilize case vignettes and videos to discuss how to seamlessly embed PT expertise into various general education pre-k and elementary school activities. In Seminar 3, she will discuss the successful implementation of adaptive equipment for sitting, standing, walking and toileting for students with multiple disabilities, in Seminar 3.

Finally, OT and PT practitioners will come back together for Seminar 4, where Amy will focus on strategies to make you and your interventions more relevant to the student’s academic needs. You will learn to put together your Must-Have Motor Kit with easy to collect and carry materials, to get the whole class moving, and promote carryover of activities even when you’re not around. For details about each seminar, download the Brochure.
