Ask Apply EBP

School-based Services Under IDEA versus Medical-Based Services

Q: Do you have a quick resource that explains the difference between school-based and medical-based services?

Yes! And we’ll do you one better…in this article, we are not just bringing back Apply EBP’s infographic that explains the similarities and differences between school-based services under IDEA and medical-based services. We also created an accompanying video.

Who are the intended audience of this video?

We created this video for parents/caregivers, teachers and other school personnel, school and district administrators, and therapists who are new to school-based practice or are thinking of working in the schools.

How may I use this video?

Here are a couple of suggestions on how you can use this video:

      • Share a link to this page or our YouTube page via email to colleagues, parents/caregivers, or administrators. This will help you highlight your role in the schools.
      • Play the video in one of your presentations at your workplace. How many times have we been invited last minute to speak for 15 minutes or so during a Professional Development Day?! You can show this video to get the conversation started, have a Q&A session, and hand out this accompanying School-based vs. Medical-based Services infographic for their reference.

Is this video free to use?
