October is PT Month! Free 4-Week Classroom Movement Break Newsletter

October is PT Month! Are you ready to get your whole school to celebrate it?

No worries! We’ve got you covered with a FREE, 5-page, ready-to-use resource: 5-Minute Movement Breaks your teacher colleagues can start using right away.

Physical Therapy Month is a perfect time to celebrate movement and learn about the body through fun 5-minute movement breaks. To help you bring movement into your schools, we’ve created a 4-part newsletter series that you can share with your teachers. Each week focuses on a different theme:

        • Week 1: Strengthening Our Muscles
        • Week 2: Stretching Our Joints
        • Week 3: Fitness for Our Hearts
        • Week 4: Coordinating Our Bodies

Or

2. Click here to join Apply EBP’s Facebook Discussion Group where you can download a copy from the group’s “Files” section.

It’s that easy! Now you’re ready to share a digital or printed copy of the Newsletter with your school colleagues. (Please do not post the newsletter on Social Media or other online groups.)

What’s in the Newsletter?

Each Weekly Newsletter includes:

        • Short Description of the week’s topic: For example, in Week 1, we describe what muscles are and what strengthening means.*
        • 3 Benefits of the week’s activities: For example, in Week 1, we give 3 answers to “Why Do We Need Strong Muscles”*
        • 5-Minute Movement Break routine consisting of 5 exercises*
        • Tips for Teachers

*The 1st 3 items above are written in kid-friendly language so that a student can be chosen to read them out loud and to lead the exercises.

The Movement Break routines are designed to:

      • Give students a quick energy boost while teaching them about their bodies.
      • Start with easier movements, progress to more challenging ones, then end by slowing down—so students are calm and ready to return to learning.
      • Be done in standing or sitting, making them accessible to all students.
