Peggy Morris, OTD, OTR/L, BCP is an OT with 30+ years of peds experience in early intervention, private practice & out-patient, but most of her experience & passion is in school-based practice. She coordinates the post-professional MS and OTD programs & school-based certificate program at Tufts University. She is Board Certified in Pediatrics through the AOTA, and a regular SeekFreaks contributor.

 

Carly Matichak Stock, PT, DPT has had the pleasure of working in the realm of pediatrics, including school-based, multi-disciplinary clinics, research, outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation settings. She currently practices in the Harford County Public Schools in Bel Air, Maryland. Carly was a faculty mentor in the pediatric residency program at Kennedy Krieger Institute responsible for the school-based and muscular dystrophy components. Carly is passionate about forming meaningful relationships with children and families she serves and offering creative evidence-informed therapy services.

 

Jennifer Wissinger, PT, DPT, ABPTS-Certified PCS serves early intervention and preschool children in Columbus, OH. She is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Pediatric PT with over 15 years of experience practicing in public schools (preschool through high school), county board of developmental disability programs for adults, home health care, and early intervention. She enjoys engaging learners of all levels to use evidence and to work collaboratively in teams to serve children and their families.

 

Laurie Ray, MPT, PhD has over 17 years of experience in school-based practice and is a state-level PT consultant for public schools. She is a co-author and co-publisher of www.SeekFreaks.com, an evidence-based online resource for pediatric PTs, OTs, and SLPs. She also consults for Medicaid and Adapted Physical Education for her state and is an Associate Professor at UNC-Chapel Hill.

At the completion of the course, you are expected to:

    1. Recognize two opportunities for collaboration in the IEP development process.
    2. Identify examples of related service provider’s contribution to two sections in the IEP to support the team and the education of a student with a disability in school.
    3. Select two examples of how a related service provider can address participation through service delivery as part of a team in an educational setting.
    4. Select a participation-based/ occupation-based goal on a given case scenario
    5. Determine 2 strategies for creating a simple data collection system for a goal
    6. Use the analysis of client data for clinical decision-making, given graphed data of a case scenario
    7. Identify at least two questions to ask during the ESY decision-making process
    8. Choose progress points to analyze for decision making of ESY
    9. Identify an example of a critical life skill that should be taken into consideration for ESY
    10. Identify 3 key considerations for post-secondary transition
    11. Determine 3 predictors for promoting college, career and independent living that a related service provider can influence
    12. Select 2 assessment tools aligned with post-secondary transition outcomes of college, career or independent living on a given case scenario

Webinar 3: 1.5 hours lecture

    • Overview of Extended School Year
    • Decision Making Progress
    • Assessment of Need
    • Intervention During Extended School Year
    • Reduction of the “Slide”

Webinar 4: 1.5 hours of lecture and video case study

Post-tests: 10-item multiple choice. 70% correct answers required to receive a certificate for each webinar.
